Fishing & Hunting Report
Lake Superior Fishing February 3, 2012
There have been both Snowmobiles and ATV's on the ice and some trucks but the guides at the Bait Shops advise you to check the ice before you venture out with vehicles and know you will be driving at your own risk. Overall, the ice is in good shape in most spots but it is very important to call ahead and check with the bait shops and fishing guides for a safe ice report. Always measure the depth of the ice where you are going to fish. "Go where the people are fishing". Don't head off by yourself without checking. Fish seem to be biting so-so right now. Reports of Trout, Walleye, Northern's, Bass, Perch and some Salmon biting have been coming in. Anglers are fishing the Bay using live bait.
Inland Lakes & Streams February 2, 2012.
INLAND LAKES:
There is good ice on the Inland Lakes and the local fishing guides are reporting that anglers are catching lots of fish. It has been an excellent year for ice fishing on the Inlands. There have been reports of many species of fish being caught. Many lakes in the Mellen area have up to 12 to 14 inches of ice but guides always advise you to check the depth of the ice where you will be fishing and call the area guides and local bait shops for a "SAFE CONDITIONS" ice fishing report. Lots of good sized fish have been reported being caught on the Onion and Sioux River.
