Fishing/Hunting Report |

| Inland reports have been mixed. WALLEYE are still in basins and deeper weed edges, and biting on small crankbaits as well as jig-n-minnow combos & slipfloats. Night has been best. PANFISH & BASS are also still in deeper water; best has been 18-25 feet. MUSKIE reports have been improving. Topwaters after dark on the weedbeds have been best. Stream TROUT fishing remains decent. Flies, bait, and even spinners have been catching some nice resident BROWNS, BROOKIES, and baby STEELHEAD. There have been a few KINGS, and some SPLAKE reported from Pikes Creek. The rest of the local rivers might have an early fish or two starting, but really need a good soaking rain to start the fall run. That should be happening shortly. |

| Fall run fish are showing up! Mainly COHOS but a few nice SPLAKE, BROWNS, and even a few STEELIES and PINKS have been reported hanging out near the rivermouths, in the lake and up in the lower reaches of the rivers. We still need a good soaking rain for a push of fish up into the rivers, but a few are straggling in. Fishing will only improve thru the month. Fall run peaks usually in mid October. A few nice CHINOOKS still coming from Pikes and the South Channel, but just one here and there. Stick and crankbaits off planerboards, small bright spoons off dipsys and shallow riggers, and even smaller flasher fly combos have been producing. Shorecasters are using spoons, large spinners, and soaking spawnbags for fish off the rivermouths. LAKE TROUT fishing remains good in all the typical offshore spots. In the Bay, BASS fishing is improving. Fish are still scattered in deeper water on offshore structures. Finding them is key, and then jigging spoons, deep cranks, heavy spinnerbaits, jigs, and Carolina rigs are all taking fish. WALLEYE and NORTHERN are still coming on sticks, cranks, and crawler harnesses trolled over the shallower flats. |

| Seasonal Hunting |
Sep 26, 2008 |
|
| Hunting reports have been a little scattered. GROUSE numbers are up. Hunters are reporting plenty of flushes, but the thick foliage is hindering shot opportunities. Plan on being here mid October, right after the leaf drop for some fast upland action! DEER are still in mainly summer patterns. Bachelor groups of BUCKS are being sighted, even a few still carrying velvet! WATERFOWL sightings have been up. GOOSE hunters are seeing migrants come thru, and the DUCK opener looks promising. Hopefully pressure will not be as intense this season, and more birds will hang around a little longer. |
